Hello November. Hello NaBloPoMo. The month where I attempt to blog daily. Usually I start of the month by telling you 10 things you don’t know about me. Or as last year I shared how my name came to be. This year I have a new idea though. I asked the AI to write up a post about me, Tobia. So meet the blogger behind craftaliciousme through the eyes of an AI.
Disclaimer: this will be the only AI generated text you will find on this blog.

The text is not tempered with and just as the AI wrote it.
This was an experiment I wanted to share. I wanted to see how much an AI can analyze about me just from reading this blog. If it can do a detailed profile on me. If you are a long time reader you will see were the AI didn’t fully grab me and my life (no mention of the husband…) But other than that is a rather solid overview on what I have been doing here the past ten years.
How do I feel about this?
As you may know I recently trained for a AI Manager certificate. This whole topic was a focus in the last couple of months. And the more I know the more I am ambivalent about it.
I had feared the AI would know more about me. More details, more intimate stuff. It didn’t. For now. I am sure it will get better and then it is easier to extract more stuff. I have only spend about 20 minutes telling the AI what to do.
We always knew what we put on the internet will stay forever. But when we started we figured people would have to invest time to dig through our words. This is no longer the case. Will that change how we are blogging? I am not sure. It might.
I personally have decided that I will not use an AI to generate text for this blog. Ever. Aside from this post. I may use the help of AI to make the pictures better (enhance sky, extend image when transforming, etc.) but I will likely not use any fully generated AI images on this blog. This is a promise to you and to my self.
What are your feels? AI yeah or nay? Any experience with AI? Would you like to know what the AI knows about you and the blogger behind your blog? Will you use AI to create text on your blog? Or images? Have you at all thought about it? Do you think the AI did a good job summarizing craftaliciousme? Would you use the AI to give you a summery on new blogs you start reading? But most important question of all: Will you be doing NabloPoMo?

Wow – that really did summarize your blog and personality very well.
I think AI is an excellent tool, but also a slippery slope. I feel like we’re only just seeing the tip of the proverbial iceberg and I’m sure there will be a lot of horrible things that come from it as well? Hopefully not, it just feels too powerful to not be harnessed in increasingly nefarious ways?
I AM doing NaBloPoMo!
I agree… it’s only the tip of the iceberg and we have no idea where we are heading. It is our human decision to make something great with it. Unfortunately you always have the black sheep and from experience those are the loudest. I hope it will be a great invention.
So happy you do NaBloPoMo. Let the fun beginn.
What a fun idea for a blog post & start of the challenge!
I do like your idea but I am not looking forward to AI messing up our world even more than it’s already managed. As a creative I fear for writers, artists, illustrators and photographers who loves their job and might be replaced by AI thieft online. :(
I’m sure it can be a great help in a workplace / office and eventually also remove work loads, and then the workers themselves.
Hot topic for me, but great intro.
Cheers & happy November blogging!
I am with you on the whole creative part and creative property rights. These algorithms need so much data and the companies just scrap anything they find. It will e interesting how, when and if there will be new laws. We sure need them.
It is a hot topic but I think we need to address it rather soon than later.
Thank you for chiming in and welcome to my blog.
I think AI did a good job! I don’t use AI and it doesn’t pertain to my job. I guess I just see it as something we have to accept, and use when it makes sense. I don’t really know how it will affect creatives… I think it’s hard to say because the whole field is so new.
It’s good to “talk” to you again! I’m looking forward to the month : )
Yes , your job is safe (for now who knows what’s happening) mine is all in turmoil. I agree so many unknowns so we really don’t know what will happen.
Nice to see you back in my space too.
I work in higher ed and honestly AI is terrifying. It’s literally destroying how students think and they can’t organize their own thoughts. I am anti-AI. I feel a bit catastrophic saying this, but I think it will honestly destroy the human race.
But I can’t focus on that right now. Yay for NaBloPoMo where (presumably) people will write their own words! Lots of words!
Definitely writing my own words and I think we will be a unique bunch now that the robot is do the job for many people. It will be a luxury reading from an actual human being.
Okay, I tried to comment but it got eaten, or maybe you are going to get a dupe. If so, sorry!!
Hi Tobia! I have seen you around on other’s blogs but have never hopped over here, so it was nice to have an intro. I have played around with AI to do clip art, trip itineraries and summarizing, but in all cases it is definitely not perfect and I always proofread and edit or just use it as a guide. I do think it can help us to get started and/or get the juices flowing if we are having trouble with ideas. I am doing NaBloPoMo for the first time and am looking forward to it!
No, there was no other comment so not sure what happened.
Thanks for jumping into my space and having a look around. Welcome.
I agree if using Ai you definitely need to go through text and (fact) check everything. But it can be helpful.
Clip art also sounds interesting. I have not dabbled much in that.
Lots of fun for your first NabLoPoMo. It is going to be a blast.
Tobia recently posted…Meet the Blogger Behind craftaliciousme
I think AI did a pretty good job, it read like a Wikipedia about you. It completely lacked the ‘human’ touch, there was none of your voice there, but it was a really good summary.
AI can be really handy, but honestly it worries me a lot, and I think you are right, we need to figure it out sooner rather than later.
Interesting experiment, to be sure! I have no interest in using AI on my blog in any capacity. Would be interesting to have AI review all of my NaBloPoMo books, though (I’m not going to do that, though).
Exactly it was an experience to understand more of what is to come, how far we are. There are areas where it is coming in handy but the human touch, the connection, the unique voice… let’s hope that will not be something it can substitute.
I’m speaking of books I have built a prompt telling me authors from each country for my read around the world project. Be a use it’s really hard finding that for countries such as Surinam or Papua New Guinea
Tobia, the picture at the top of the post is SO COOL! I love it! Personally, AI terrifies me. I don’t know if it comes from the ridiculous amount of scifi I’ve read or just being a nervous person, but its reach and ability to exponentially grow is all yikes to me. I know it’s where “things” are going, but I wish I could sit this one out, haha.
First off: I love that picture! And I never used AI before to write a text and I also keep telling my kids how important it is to learn to write down your own thoughts without AI participation. It is intriguing though and it can be helpful. We sometimes employed it for vacation planning (at least to get a couple ideas) and it can be helpful to explain hard to grasp concepts in science apparently (one of our grad students had it explain a publication to her with Sponge Bob analogies). Yes, it can be used for negatively but like with everything related to progress humanity needs to come up with some ground rules that everyone can live by. I am really hoping the progress will not outpace these efforts. As much as I think it can be used for good it also makes me a little uneasy.
I am still on the fence of NaBloPoMo this year. If I manage to write a post before the day is over I will add my name to the list ;)
I don’t know a ton about AI, but from what I do know – it makes me uncomfortable. This was an interesting experiment. I agree with J that it seems to have missed the personal aspect of who you are. A woman joined our writing group last year. She didn’t last long. She interrupted people when they were talking or talked over people. It was strange. She told all of us that we should be using AI in our writing. I was shocked. Um, nope. I felt like she was missing the whole point of writing.
Hey Ernie, thanks for stopping by and welcome to my blog.
Yes, I guess for now the AI is not very good in doing the human touch but I am sure we get there – if we want or not.
I was very disinterested in it but in my area of work it is disrupting everything so I decided I need to get more familiar with it in order to say on top. I am not 100 percent happy about AI and do see lots of issues. But it also does have so much potential. I guess it is as it always is and comes down hoe we as a human race use innovation. Not too optimistic here though…
What an interesting experiment, AI is here to stay and I guess it’s better to try to utilize and understand the best we can. It is a bit scary though but I know from a business standpoint there is promise in how it can speed processes. Interestingly enough I know that it is creeping into the world of university (my daughter can tell when her classmates use AI for their discussion points, she eyerolls as she can spot it a mile away). Looking forward to reading more on your blog this month!
Thank you for coming by and welcome.
Congrats to your daughter. Spotting when AI is used is a key skill to have. I am certain of that.
It is definitely here to stay and we better hop on board and understand how the technology is working before loosing out.
I’m going to have a much different take on AI but I think it has been such a positive thing in my life, both personally and professionally. I’ve used it to help me write emails, write content, and even just help me think of fun questions to ask my team for bonding. I’ve also used it to help me write podcast outlines and trip itineraries. And I do use it on my blog, as it generates the short book summaries I have on my blog posts.
Do I think it has the potential for evil? Of course. There are a lot of regulations around AI that we need to figure out and I do worry how this will affect students/teachers. How do we make sure students are ACTUALLY writing their pages (and yet… it can also be used to help students better understand concepts and learn new things!)? It’s a complicated subject.
Happy NaBloPoMo!
Definately a complicated subject. I think key is that we loose the fear of it. The unknowing is key for any hesitation. But change will come, heck we are far more along than most assume. I knew that. Main reason I did the AI course – and he cheered me on (thanks for that). I definitely see all the positive things and if we are – specially in marketing – mot coming to grips with it we are out of a job. Because most marketing writing will be AI content. At least in the starting phase, right?
But there are also so many scary things and I am not totally confident the human race will handle it responsibly. Knowledge is power after all.
Anyway thank you for chiming in with a different kind of view. Much appreciated. Happy NaBloPoMo.
Woah, I am impressed (and a little terrified) by AI. I’ve only used it a little bit so far (as a starting point for things) but have never fully used AI generated content anywhere. I do have to say that it captured you and your blog quite well though… but I mean, no surprise because it’s gleaning everything from your own written words.
AI is intriguing but should also be used with proper care, IMHO.
Absolutely agree. It is impressive and full of potential but we need to know what we are doing and right now it’s moving faster than we can catch up with.
This is so interesting, Tobia! AI does summarize your blog very well, and it’s like reading an author’s biography. It also left me with more questions than answers about you!
I actually feel a bit indifferent about AI. It can make writing feel cold and impersonal, but it can also help with grammar and making sentences flow better. I understand that AI is here to stay, in writing and in art, so it was smart of you to take a class and learn how to deal with it.
Exactly that. I needed to learn and then get my own opinion and see where and how to use it where it makes sense and not be afraid. I believe that art will become a sort of luxury item to possess. Same as physical books. We’ll see.
As of now it is cold and impersonal but I am sure because the AI is not yet taught. I fear in just a few years you wouldn’t be able to tell.
I wonder though… what kind of questions did pop up? I was wondering if I should so an Ask Me Anything post. So feel free to drop them.
I use large language models to generate social media captions for my office’s IG and Linked In accounts. I edit and tweak the writing, but it’s a huge time-saver in making the “Shitty First Draft” (thanks Anne Lamott, who I guess would not be a LLM fan?). But this is only for unimportant, corporate writing. For blogs, journals, and other writing, I think the entire process is important to engage in.
LLMs are also really good for translating technical English into everyday English. I’ve used it with patients to “translate” their radiology reports for them and I’ve been quite impressed with the results. I’ve been less impressed with de novo generated medical information because I’ve found some pretty basic errors that would be unfortunate to perpetuate.
What a great use of AI to explain complicated topics to your patients.
I am a marketing manager and have been doing mainly social media in the past years so it’s changing my job tremendously. You definitely need to proof read and adapt but you can squeeze out much more using LLM.
Today I read a book and they said that writing helps sorting thought and educates I. Though processing. If we let AI do that in the long run everything will be mediocre. I strongly believe it’s true.
Thanks for sharing your opinion. And I look forward reading your posts this month.
I thought this was a clever way to introduce yourself to someone who doesn’t know you at all. It does read like an impersonal entry in an encyclopedia (or Wikipedia as was mentioned earlier), but it did grab the overall essence of you I think, maybe not real personal tidbits.
I think AI, like many other things, can be used for good or evil. It really is going to end up being how it gets regulated. Schools and universities are already finding out what a nightmare it is, I do believe students shouldn’t be allowed to use it, but I’m also afraid it will get to be so good no one will be able to tell if it was AI generated or an original. It is just in the burgeoning stages now, can you imagine what it will look like a few years from now.
AI isn’t going away and is only going to get bigger and better as time goes on. We are going to have to embrace it, but it’s also an unfortunate fact that we are going to have some sort of regulation and oversight on it. I can see it being a very useful tool for many different professions, but I can also see it being used to influence negatively or cheat to get ahead.
Amen to everything you said. My thoughts exactly. In the end it’s how we use it as a human race and if we remember what humanity is.
Seeing how the world is right not I am not overly optimistic unfortunately. But here is to hope.
how interesting! never thought about asking AI about my blog.
I use ChatGPT mostly at work, asking quick RA type questions, rewriting briefs, etc.
Do it. It’s very interesting. I didn’t spend much time doing the prompt I am sure it could be better and more detailed.
This is such a good experiment Tobia, fascinating! I would not use AI on my blog because it is a personal blog, and needs “me” in it. I think the only time I might be tempted to use AI is if I had to do a piece of standard, writing that was in “bureaucrat.”
I love that “in bureaucrat”. öI fear sooner than later the AI can immediate us all. It is just a matter of trying. But I agree the blog is nothing without “me” in it and the point of blogging is 50% (if not more) the writing and thinking it helps doing.
Oh my, thanks for the prompt to find how ChatGPT described my blog, good starting point for one of my NaBloPoMo posts! 🩷 Indeed AI is a quagmire and will impact so many aspects of our lives. I write because I enjoy the process of writing — I like to inject my personality — so I don’t plan to use AI to write for me. One way I’ve been exploring AI is thru finding connections between abstract shapes and real things using my art as a prompt — experiments for the sake of experiments, just being curious and seeing what happens.
That’s an interest approach. I would love to hear more about that.
Welcome to the NabloPoMo. Love to see new faces around.
