Third time is a charm, right? Welcome to this month spotted photo challenge hosted by Hanna with the theme round. I struggled to be honest if the images I share below are really round or maybe just circles. I dint google the definition. I had a few ball shaped options but I felt they weren’t as artistic (which is my own aspiration) or the back story wasn’t as great. So if you disagree or know the correct definition of round and this is not it just enjoy the photos.
Round Tower
Well, everyone from Berlin knows this tower – Fernsehturm Berlin. It is like the Space needle to Seattle or the Eifel Tower to Paris. It’s Germany’s highest tower – that is what I learned in third grade who knows if it is still correct. It is also the symbol of home. I saw this tower from some of my apartments but I always saw it when getting home. Just the last two places it is missing and I did realize. It is like coming home when I see this tower. It is so famous of course it has its own hashtag #itsthattoweragain. You can see it from many many places in Berlin. Anyways, I can not post a round shape without Berlin’s landmark.

Round Twig

This is on of my first images I ever took with a gown up camera (DSLR camera). I bough this camera especially for the trip to the United States and the Dominican Republic. The boyfriend (now husband) and I were visiting his family in the DR. I got to meet his siblings and his mom for the first time. The house was surrounded by a garden with many plants I had never seen or only seen in a botanical garden. Or at the flower shop. I spent a whole morning strolling around the house capturing all the different wonders. Until this day it is one of my favorite photos ever taken.

Round Hedge

During my years as event manager I had a huge function every first week of December. The places varied but it was a 5 day event if not longer. At this particular year we had booked a venue in Salzburg Austria. And the boyfriend then husband now and I added a few days to explore the city. This images was taken from the fortress Hohensalzburg. It towering above the city and gives a spectacular view. But when you look outside the other side you see green meadows and this one little farm building. It is surounded by a rather round shaped hedge and has this interesting crossroad junction. I love these kinds of serendipitous discoveries.

Round Spot of Snow

This looks a little like a Disney walkway. And it does feel a little walking it. However left and right are tombstones as this walkway through the hedges is on the cemetery. This cemetery was my sanctuary for 16 years. The time I lived down town Berlin. Specially during Covid it became important to me as it was the only greenery I was able to see or where I felt it wasn’t as crowded. It also was were on the edges of the boring fields I started to identify the herbs and even collected some – not from graves obviously. I have had some favorite spots and this place is really something I miss dearly since moving. Cemeteries are just so enchanting a a happy place for me.

Round Wreath

Alright, when you have been around for a while you know I make an advent wreath every year for my parents. And probably for the past 20 year too. It all started when I was invited to a wreath making class at one hotel. I went there with my then best friend and ever since I had made them. This particular wreath was made in the midst of Covid. It was the first time since the pandemic that I left the apartment for more than going shopping. I had severe cabin fever and went to my parents country home for a few days. I wrote a wonderful blogpost about that experience. That trip was a life saver and kept me sane. And it was also when I realized that from our apartment building I can not see any sky. I felt trapped. Back then the idea formed that we might have outlived the city life of the young ones.

And so you have my top five picks of round things. What is your favorite photo? Can you remember one of the earliest photos you took? Have you been to the Dominican Republic or the Fortress Hohensalzburg? Have you ever made wreath yourself?

Yay! a Spotted Photo Theme blog post!
I like tour take on round as a theme Tobia, thank you for sharing these photos. You make me wish (again) that I could visit Berlin. I’ve been in Heidelberg but never Berlin. :(
Love that the cemetery is your happy place. That Disney photo is my favourite of these, it really looks like a portal to a magical kingdom.
Oh you are right. It probably is an entrance to a magical kingdom. I just haven’t found the key yet.
You should come visit Berlin.
These are such gorgeous photos! I can imagine how that tower makes you feel like you are home. I love the magical spot in the cemetery. It’s really nice that you can go back through your old photos to find things for this project. The first photo I remember taking was when I was about 12 and had a camera that had a flash cube that attached separately! That was a long time ago! I took a picture of my dog. And I still have it in an album.
Oh that is so cool that you remember the first photo you took. What was that dogs name?
I made one – pretty good if I may say so myself – portrait of my parents. I was allowed dads camera.
That cemetery spot is so cool, right.
My dog’s name was Ashley, a beautiful German Shepherd that was mostly black. She would howl along when I played the piano. Good memories!
What fond memories.
I think interpreting round as a circle is the way to do it! All of your pictures are so beautiful. I love that you’re doing this challenge!
Thank you so much Engie. I think circle is very close to anything round. The challenge is so fun.

A circle is how I interpreted round too, although I still need to do the post. Your photo of the tower is fabulous. We went up when we visited Berlin. I can picture my earliest camera – a film Kodak camera;I have some photos I took on school camp when I was in year 6.
Oh how fun to have these photos still. I have seen your take on the challenge and I loved your picks.
That tower is a home feeling. The other day we were driving in the car and I suddenly saw the tower and I was so happy. We were many kilometers away but I could spot it.

The wreathe is my favorite photo. I have made a few Christmas wreathes wayyy back when… 2016 I say?… This is a great challenge- thanks for sharing.
Ah thank you. I loved that wreath unfortunately it didn’t dry as well as I had hoped and looked a little haggard rather sooner than later. But I had fun doing it and gathering the flowers.

Oh this was so fun! I love the roundnesses you found. My favorite is the round stick — so unusual!
It’s one of my favorite photos ever too.
It’s a fun challenge. Ian not sure if you participate – I’ve been so absent lately on the blogs. Sigh.
Oh, I forgot the challenge…I haven’t looked through my pictures to find circles yet. I guess I’ll be a bit late. Or maybe I’ll do it on Sunday…we’ll see.
I love your pictures, you are so talented. Part of that of course is the technical skill, and part of it is the eye and artistic ability. My favorites are the round twig and the snow in the cemetery, but they are all great.
Thank you so much Julie. It means a lot.
The twig is personal favorite. The snow was a nice surprise- I had no idea it was in my archive.
Would love to see your circles.
Your round-up of round-circular-curvy objects is delightful! I especially enjoy the context/back-story. The round hedge and the roads forming sunbeams around the home — that’s my fav. When I was little my dad let me use his good Nikon film cameras and I don’t know what my first photo might have been — but I do remember a series of photographs of our Weimaraner taken in the backyard amidst the peach trees so I’ll hold on to that as a possibility.
Oh yes, I bet fond memories. Holding das camera and being allowed the big toys. I say hold on to that.
That house looks so lost out there and yet so secluded, right?
Thanks for stopping by. I am currently trying to catch up on all the missed blog posts.
