Sun is setting on the last day of September. I am lighting a candle and sip my tea and start thinking about how shaping happiness in September looked like. It’s been a fun months. Happy moments and new things. Let’s have a look, shall we.
How I incorporated my word SHAPE in September
Shaping Life and Happiness
- I started my AI course and it’s already opened up so many possibilities as well as thoughts that need to marinate.
- I baked an apple streusel cake after I craved it for two weeks.
- I initiated a talk at the church group about the traction of right wing parties and what our role as humans and Christians is.
- I joined an initiative for democracy and became a member.
- I spend half a day on the water with my dad in a rented boat soaking up the last rays of sunshine.
Shaping Health and Body
- I walked 115.4 kilometers and an average of 5,907 steps daily in September. Three days I hit the 10.000 steps goal.
- I managed to close my Apple Watch rings three times.
- I tried to get into heart rate zone 2 and pushed myself a couple of times. But I had hoped for a bit more here to be honest. I didn’t set a very specific goal for September and I just don’t do well with such flexibility. Lesson learned.
- I did 11 yoga sessions and a total of 6 hours and 33 minutes.
- I did 6 weight lifting sessions each 10 minutes long.
- I went for a 5 kilometer hike one Sunday morning.
- I went swimming once and then it was too cold (for me).
Shaping Mind & Soul
- I started integrating 5 minute mediations in my day.
- I sat in the sun and let its warmth warm my soul.
- I did one social media free Sunday and reduced my scrolling time on two more Sundays.
Shaping Relationships
- I enjoyed a night in the Musical with my mom and sister.
- I celebrated my sister’s birthday with a dinner and the best truffle ravioli ever.
- I celebrated my mom’s birthday by visiting a photo exhibit and afterwards a fancy dinner on a boat.
- I spend time with my best friend.
- I visited friends and we had a BBQ.
- I wrote three letters.
- My mom cashed in her birthday voucher (from 2 years back) and we went on a boat ride and a dinner. Fun.
- I had a two-hour FaceTime call with a friend from Idaho.
Shaping Home
- I cleaned up my craft room and wept down the surfaces.
- I started my picture wall but ran out of pieces to hang.
- I vacuumed the headboard of our bed.
- I listed and sold more things on eBay.
- Our heating was (partly) fixed – something I reported to the landlord a year ago.
Shapes in the wild
I am on a hunt to find shapes in the places around me. I didnt pay attention this month on shapes so I am sharing this one from May.
How I will SHAPE life and happiness in October
- Shaping Life and Happiness I will celebrate German Unity day and be thankful for what that means. I will focus on my AI course. I will buy myself flowers.
- Shaping Health and Body I will join the Cool Bloggers Walking Club and be outside walking at least 10 minutes day. I will continue to strive for three days of yoga and one weight lifting session per week. I will go swimming in the community pool one time to test how I like it.
- Shaping Mind & Soul I will take Sunday night baths. I will read books and focus on ghost stories and mysteries. I will reintroduce mindful Wednesday morning walks. I will join the church group for our monthly discussion.
- Shaping Relationships I will see my craft friend who I haven’t seen for almost two years. I will spend time with my best friend. I will re-start date days after a three month break. We will visit our friends for a night at their place.
- Shaping Home I will continue to sell stuff on eBay. I will be better in cleaning the bathrooms. I will finally do the picture wall and share a photo.
How did you shape your September? What are you looking forward to in October? What is the latest letter you wrote to someone?

What a cool photo.
I love how intentional you were in September – from moving your body, to signing up for things you believe in, to spending time with family and friends. Gold stars!
Last letter…hmmm. Handwritten? Probably to a blogging friend (just not sure which one!)
Thank you Elisabeth. It’s so good to see all the things shaping up at the end of the month.
Letters for blog friends sounds great!
I liked that you ran out of pictures to hang for your wall, that leaves room for the future, right?
Thank you for joining a democracy group, that is wonderful.
Apple streusel cake sounds amazing.
I am craving this apple streusel cake but it’s all gone.
For now I just pay some money to the democracy group. But I need to have a closer look at the opening package as there were some helpful tips on how to do arguments. Also they have lots of courses but mainly aimed for high school students. Maybe also for adults.
I had planned for some pictures to go up on the wall I wanted to create this summer (cyanotype prints) but I never did them. So I need placeholders for now.
Yay for joining CBWC! I love the challenge of fitting time in every day.
Yea it’s such a fun way for movement and community even though we are all scattered across the world.
